I don’t think this makes too much sense, i think that brainwave scanning machine would be too simple of an explanation for everything that happens, i think that there is too much going on to just be caused by a powerful machine, plus they kind of blow it up at the end of the second season…

If this true, I don’t think the “Others” have access. The show proved that they know what they know by infiltrating the survivors groups and using the video monitors to spy. They also have access to the outside world. So…the amplifier may be there…but the “Others” didn’t use it.

Sounds similar to the story plot of the classic movie “Forbidden Planet” with Walter Pigeon.

If it is a repository for all the world’s brain waves, why would Ben have told the Others to go to the crash site and make lists? Wouldn’t the Others already know who’s on the plane, the backgrounds, etc.?

I find this idea interesting. I don’t know if it will prove to be true, but it is interesting nonetheless. However, I have a question. What does our collective conscience tell us as far as a time frame for the return of Lost?
